My name is Alka Chopra and I am a Registered Dietitian by profession. But I simply love painting, crafting and beading. I have had no formal training in painting or beading. Growing up, in my spare time I painted greeting cards for friends and family, made several paintings as gifts. When I came to Canada my daughter started to bead and I developed an interest as well. So I made my first beading project that was simply assorted beads purchased from Walmart and strung onto an elastic chord and tied into a knot. My colleagues and friends started to appreciate that necklace. And then began my quest for learning more and more techniques. The quest is ongoing.................
I find painting and beading to be extremely stress relieving and helps me take my mind off the work that I do for a living. It give me the power to think more creatively. I feel energised and refreshed after I design or complete a project. Most importantly I can have fun with colors and beads.
I do believe that anyone can be creative because creativity has no boundaries and no rules. It is the love for creating beautiful things that I was drawn towards One Stroke and beading.
